Fairfax Academy unveils vibrant new murals

Fairfax Academy wall art: Fairfax Academy students are feeling a renewed sense of pride in their school community thanks to vibrant new murals that have transformed corridors into colourful celebrations of life at Fairfax.

The Eisteddfod festival, a staple at Fairfax Academy for decades, is celebrated in the new wall art.

The striking artwork highlights everything that makes the academy unique – from its thriving sports culture and much‑loved Eisteddfod Festival to the creativity of the art department and the energy of its house system.

In the art department, students are greeted by a dynamic ‘timeline’ mural showcasing influential artists and styles from across history, displayed alongside pieces created by Fairfax students themselves.

The art corridor, newly adorned with a timeline of iconic artists and styles.

Head of Art, Alex Bradnick, said: “We wanted every student to see themselves reflected in the artists we chose. They’re all figures our students learn about in lessons, and the mural helps them understand where their own work sits within the wider story of art.

“The timeline pairs iconic artworks with our students’ interpretations, which really celebrates their talent and shows how they’ve explored these styles in their own way.”

In the PE department the wall art features inspirational quotes from figures such as Mohammad Ali and gymnast Simone Biles.

The PE department artwork inspires students with quotes from successful sportspeople.

One student said: “The bright colours, different styles and 3D elements feel really connected to what we’ve studied. It makes the space feel alive.”

Mrs Bradnick added: “Across the school, the murals reflect Fairfax’s identity – especially the house system, which is such a big part of who we are.”

The emblems of the four houses – Coventry, Kenilworth, Stratford and Warwick – now proudly sit next to the school’s trophy cabinets in the main hall. Elsewhere students selected as House Captains will have their photographs on show too.

Another student shared: “Seeing the house colours around the school makes me feel proud of my house and proud to belong to Fairfax.”

The school’s four houses are represented in the new artwork.

The new displays, completed over the Easter break, have made a striking impact across the school, which is part of Fairfax Multi-Academy Trust. Families will get the chance to see the new Fairfax Academy wall art for the first time at open evenings in June.
