Erdington Academy Christmas events: Students and staff Academy enjoyed a fun-filled, jam-packed Christmas week prior to breaking up on 19 December.

A range of events and activities not only had Erdington students looking outward to their community, but inviting the community into their school.
The week began with an exciting KS1 Christmas Active Festival, which welcomed 50 Year 1 and Year 2 pupils from local primary schools into Erdington Academy to participate in fun and engaging Christmas-themed physical activities.
The festival, run by student Sports Leaders at Erdington, was the culmination of a series of timetabled events across the academic year, which trained the young volunteers on how to lead inclusive, energetic and well-organised activities. It was an outstanding success, with the KS1 children laughing all the way.
And the festival wasn’t the only festive outreach programme linking Erdington Academy to local primary schools.

A group of kind Year 7 students wrote cards to their former primary schools, filling them in on their first year of secondary school so far and offering advice to Year 6 children.
Christmas cards were also delivered to the school’s neighbours by Year 10 and Year 11 students, wishing them a merry Christmas and thanking them for their support, as well as to local businesses and homes.
On top of this, the top 15 students in behaviour and attendance from each year group were rewarded with a trip to Royal Sutton Coldfield Town Hall to see this year’s pantomime, Beauty and the Beast, alongside staff members with 100% attendance records. They had an amazing time laughing and chanting along at the panto.

But the highlight of the week of Erdington Academy Christmas events was the school’s first ever Christmas Concert, which channelled the festive spirit through music, drama and food.
Parents, families and local residents enjoyed a fantastic performance of Snow White courtesy of Erdington’s talented drama students, as well as a concert of Christmas carols performed by the school’s choir and band. Guests were even treated to a delicious Christmas dinner!
