Coleshill School games award: Sports department scoop prestigious platinum mark

Coleshill School Games Award: Staff at The Coleshill School who work hard to inspire students to excel in sports are celebrating a win of their own – after being awarded the prestigious School Games Platinum Mark Award for their contribution to sport in 2022-2023.

The School Games Mark is a Government-led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.

Every year schools can apply to be considered for bronze/silver/gold/platinum award marks from School Games.  The School Games adjudicators judge schools against stringent criteria in the areas of sport, participation, competition, staff and clubs.

With lots of young people competing in local inter-school competitions last year, The Coleshill School – which is part of the respected Arthur Terry Learning Partnership – are extremely proud of their students for their dedication to all aspects of school sport, including those young volunteers, leaders and officials who made their competitions possible.

Coleshill School Games Award an ‘amazing achievement’

Rick Wilkinson, Head of PE commented: “Being awarded the School Games Platinum Award is an amazing achievement and recognises the strong extra-curricular offer available to students provided by the PE department at The Coleshill School.

“These include a wide range of sporting fixtures, school games events, primary school sessions and sports leadership events.

“I am fortunate to lead a fantastic team of outstanding professionals who often go above and beyond for our students.

“I am extremely proud of all the team and would like to thank them for their continued dedication and hard work over many years, which has resulted in this fantastic award.’
