Students took part in the second annual ‘Ei-Stock-fod’ Stockland Green arts festival – their own version of a traditional Welsh Eisteddfod arts festival – with their three houses of Rea, Tame and Cole competing for points at the school, which is part of the Arthur Terry Learning Partnership.

In one category, young artists created pieces of art from recycled materials, while in another they designed posters with a healthy living message.

The entries were displayed in an exhibition, before the winners were announced at a celebration evening which featured performances and music.

Deputy headteacher Rebecca Goode said: “We launched the Stockland Green arts festival – or the Ei-Stock-Fod as we call it – because we wanted to increase the amount of positive competition and participation for students across the school, giving the pupils an opportunity to showcase their creativity, their musical talent and their dramatic abilities.

The overall Ei-Stock-Fod cup winners – Tame house – were announced to rapturous applause at an all-school assembly on the last day before the Christmas break.

Headteacher Marie George said: “The Ei-Stock-Fod has become an important part of life at Stockland Green and the students really enjoy it.

“It’s about providing children with opportunities outside of the classroom. We know that our curriculum is broad and balanced, and the children are fully engaged – but we want them to be doing things that inspire them outside of the classroom and : “The Ei-Stock-Fod has become an important part of life at Stockland Green and the students really enjoy it.
