Town Junior School’s Christmas show saw pupils discover how youngsters around the world celebrate the festive season in a globe-trotting festive production.
All 240 pupils at Town Junior School, in Ebrook Road, Sutton Coldfield, took part in Children of the World, which they performed to family and friends on Wednesday and Thursday last week.
Town Junior School’s Christmas show told how a group of angels are sent out to visit Australia, Poland, Ireland, America, Malawi and China to investigate different Christmas customs, from festive barbecues Down Under to Chinese paper lanterns.
Pupils played citizens from each nation, while at the heart of the colourful production was a traditional nativity scene, complete with Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus.
Deputy headteacher Julie Gilmour explained that the show had been carefully choreographed to give parents a chance to see their little ones take the stage.
“It’s all about them each having their own moment in the spotlight. Even if they don’t have a major part we try to ensure that they are all centre stage at some point,” she said.
Headteacher Adrienne Smith said: “We are so proud of each and every one of our children – we encourage all of them to take part, in whatever way they are comfortable with. They have all worked so hard on the show and they are all so excited to be taking part.”
