Plantsbrook School GCSE results 2018 – school celebrates ‘bumper’ year

Pupils and staff at Plantsbrook School are celebrating after ‘bumper’ GCSE results showed significant improvements across the entire curriculum.

The Upper Holland Road school, which has undergone a multi-million pound rebuild in recent years, also saw particular success in the vital ‘EBacc’ subjects – a combination of subjects that the government thinks is important for young people to study at GCSE.

In English and maths, 58% of Plantsbrook students achieved the highest grades of 9 – 5 improving on last year, while 78% got between grades 9 – 4.

Headteacher Tracy Campbell said she was “incredibly proud” of the performance.

“Coming after last week’s A level results, which were the best we’ve ever had, I’m incredibly proud of the pupils and staff and I thank parents too for their support. It’s been a bumper year for us.”

“We have had strong results across the curriculum and particularly in the EBacc subjects, which include English, maths, the sciences, a humanity and modern language. We have seen significant improvements in our Ebacc figure.

“Later in the academic year the school will be given a ‘progress score’, which recognises how well our GCSE students have developed since first joining the school, and we’re very confident that we will get a high score.
